Prominent op onze site is de samenvatting van het spelersbeleid van Ajax in de afgelopen tien jaar. In de tabel en de grafiek kunt u per jaar zien hoeveel spelers er in de selectie zitten, hoeveel nieuwe spelers er gehaald zijn, hoeveel spelers daarvan van buiten komen, hoeveel spelers zijn weg gegaan, en hoeveel spelers er uit de eigen jeugdopleiding komen. Op basis van de statistieken weergegeven in de tabel en de grafiek hebben we een aantal observaties gemaakt.
In de onderstaande tabel ziet u per seizoen:
- Het aantal spelers
- Het aantal nieuwe spelers
- Het aantal spelers dat is weg gegaan
- Het aantal spelers uit de eigen jeugdopleiding in de selectie
- Het percentage van het aantal spelers uit de eigen jeugdopleiding in de selectie
Observaties
Een aantal observaties:
Wat opmerkelijk is aan de cijfers in de tabel is dat het aantal spelers uit de selectie van 2001 t/m 2009 varieert van 25 tot maar liefst 55 spelers. Het seizoen 2004/2005 en 2007/2008 spannen daarbij duidelijk de kroon met respectievelijk 55 en 51 spelers. De club haalt dus op zeer verschillende wijze spelers zonder dat daar een consistent beleid uit blijkt.
Gemiddeld worden er over de periode zo’n 10 spelers per seizoen van buiten aangetrokken.
Curieus is dat Ajax gedurende het seizoen 2008/2009, en in het naseizoen in totaal meer nieuwe spelers binnen haalt dan er in de selectie zitten. Een jaar waarin er meer nieuwe spelers gehaald worden dan eigenlijk in de selectie passen, zal moeilijk worden voor Ajax om te evenaren.
De selectie van Ajax bestond in het seizoen 2001/2002 t/m 2009/2010 gemiddeld voor 54,0% uit spelers van de eigen kweek. Ajax is hierin nog steeds onovertroffen in Nederland. De jeugdopleiding is de basis voor succes. Belangrijk is daarnaast hoeveel wedstrijden in het eerste daadwerkelijk gespeeld worden door eigen kweek. Een meting in het seizoen 2009/2010 met Martin Jol als trainer levert op dat 7,7 keer een speler uit de eigen jeugd startte of inviel in een wedstrijd in de Eredivisie, dat wil zeggen 55%.
Met de komst van Frank de Boer is het inzetten van spelers uit eigen jeugd drastisch toegenomen. In de tweede helft van de competitie 2010/2011 werden gemiddeld 10,8 spelers uit eigen jeugd ingezet als starter of vervanger!! Relatief gezien was het aandeel van spelers afkomstig uit de eigen Ajax jeugdopleiding in de selectie het grootst in de periode van 2004 t/m 2009. Dit wil echter niet direct zeggen dat deze jaren een succesvollere doorbraak kende van talenten uit de eigen jeugd ten opzichte van de overige seizoenen. Gezien het aantal spelers is dat ook niet zo gek. In de periode van 2004 t/m 2009 bestaat de selectie gemiddeld namelijk uit 47 spelers.
